Drill-and-fill, no drywall removal

Wall Insulation
in Utah homes.

For older homes with empty wall cavities. We fill them through small holes that get patched afterwards, so there is no drywall coming off and no room out of use for weeks.

What it involves

The job
description.

Houses built before insulation was standard often have nothing at all in the walls, and it shows in the rooms on the cold side of the building. We drill a line of small holes, blow the cavity full, then patch and make good.

It is the least disruptive way to deal with a cold room short of rebuilding the wall. Most homes are done in a day, and the difference in a room that has always been cold is usually the one people notice most.

Signs this is the
job your house needs.

If more than one of these sounds like your home, they usually share a cause, and it is usually this one.

One or two rooms are always colder than the rest

The house was built before insulation was standard

You can feel cold coming off an interior wall surface

Street or neighbour noise carries into the rooms

The heating runs constantly to keep one part of the house warm

Cavities checked

We confirm what is actually in the wall cavities before quoting, rather than assuming from the age of the house.

Access holes drilled

A neat line of small holes, positioned so that every cavity can be filled properly from top to bottom.

Cavity filled03

Cavity filled

Blown to density cavity by cavity, so it fills the space rather than bridging across the middle of it.

Patched and cleaned

Common questions

About this
job.

If yours is not here, ask us on the phone.

01Do you have to take the drywall off?
No. That is the point of drill-and-fill. We work through small holes that are patched afterwards, so the room stays usable and the finish is repaired the same day.
02Will I see where the holes were?
They are patched flush and sanded. On a wall due for painting anyway you will not know. On an exterior finish we match as closely as the material allows and will show you an example first.
03How do you know the cavity actually filled?
We fill cavity by cavity to density rather than blowing until it looks full. Where there is doubt about obstructions we will say so at the estimate.
04Does it help with noise?
Yes, noticeably. A filled wall is measurably better at stopping sound than an empty one, and it is a common reason people book the job on a road-facing room.
